Adult Misophonia Treatment Research Study - Coming Fall 2025

Researchers at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX at the Texas Intervention Development and Behavioral Science Lab will conduct a misophonia treatment study this fall.  They will be looking for adults that can participate in-person in Denton.  This will be a great opportunity for adults.

We are currently raising funds and recruiting a new PhD graduate student for this study.  For more information, see https://gofund.me/25c29f93.  Your help is greatly needed and appreciated.

Misophonia Genetics Study

About the study:

Your family has been invited to be part of a study of families in which an individual has misophonia (a condition in which certain sounds trigger an intense emotional or physiological response). The purpose of this study is to identify genetic factors that may cause misophonia. This will greatly contribute to ourunderstanding of misophonia and may help develop new therapies in the future. This study requires participation from an individual impacted by misophonia and both biological parents, if possible. Thereis no age-restriction to participate, and the study can be done in-person or remotely. We are not able to offer you a report of your genetic results because our studies are performed as research. Our research lab does not offer any treatment.

What do we need from you to participate?

  1. Genetic Samples: we will obtain a saliva sample for genetic analysis from the child (and both parents, if possible)
  2. Questionnaire: we will ask you to complete standardized questionnaires asking about how you and your child think, feel, and behave as well as questions about your medical and psychiatric history. These questionnaires can be completed from home, and we can assist with any questions or concerns.

If you have further questions or are interested in participating in our study, please contact us at [email protected], call us at (203)-677-0842, or use the following link to complete our study interest survey: https://yalesurvey.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9MgLXfbJxw1VL1k
